Matthew Timms — documentation portfolio

Technical writing, product thinking, and working software for people who need to understand and use complex systems.

I make technical products easier to use

I am moving from bid writing into technical writing and technical product ownership. My work sits at the join between understanding a difficult system, deciding what users need, and explaining the result clearly.

This portfolio is built as a documentation site because the documentation is the work sample. The pages here show how I structure information, explain technical decisions, write for developers, and turn an idea into a usable product.

What you will find here

  • Project documentation — architecture, product decisions, workflows, and implementation notes from Tenderstack, Open Tenders, and Siteview.
  • Writing practice — API references, getting-started guides, and AI integration tutorials.
  • Product ownership — how I frame problems, make scope decisions, and connect user needs to delivery.

Background

I have written tender responses in education technology and facilities management, rebuilt bid libraries, and shipped internal AI tooling for bid teams. That background taught me to learn unfamiliar domains quickly, work against explicit requirements, and write for readers who need an answer they can act on.

I am now applying those skills to developer-facing SaaS documentation and technical product work.
